Empowering Beginnings

Birth and postpartum doula services

Birth Doula Services-

I offer a free consultation to establish a relationship, give you and your partner the freedom to ask questions, express concerns. Generally we meet locally for a 30 minute time slot.

If we decide we are a good match, we will meet 1-2 more times to discuss the birth you would like. Topics we discuss will include your birth plan, review normal labor process, discuss which pain-coping practices you feel may work for you, spiritual beliefs you have that you would like incorporated. Some families find it is a better fit to do it for two smaller windows of time or 1 larger one. The standard meeting time is 3 hours total.

I am always available by phone or email and will get back you within 24 hours.

When you go into labor I keep in contact with you and join you when you feel it is the right time. I stay with for the duration of your labor. I can provide comfort with pain relief techniques such as: breathing, relaxing, massage and offering ideas for more optima laboring positions. I also encourage participation from your partner and offer them support and reassurance. I advocate for you as the mother to have a positive and safe birth experience, not matter where on the spectrum that birth may fall, from homebirth to planned cesareans.

After the birth, I stay with you for 1 hour or until mothers are comfortable and resting.

My birth package is $700.00. Which $300.00 is due at the time of signing my contract and the remaining balance is due by 38 weeks. I strongly believe all mothers deserve a doula and will work with any family on payment plans, lower fees and bartering. Please ask.

Postpartum Doula Services-

I offer postpartum care anytime after birth. A postpartum doula's services change from day to day, as the needs of the family change. Postpartum doulas do whatever a mother needs to best enjoy and care for her new baby. A large part of my role is education and support. I am available to assist with breastfeeding, which includes making sure the mother is fed, well hydrated and comfortable. I may also do dishes, laundry and spend time with siblings.

Postpartum care is $25.00 an hour with a discount given for families interested in a larger amount of hours.

Overnight Infant Care

Overnight care includes all infant  and maternal care, and breastfeeding support. The function of overnight care is for new parents to feel confident their baby is in competent hands so that they can get a substantial stretch of sleep.  Overnight care is particularly helpful when the mother has had a cesarean section, a difficult pregnancy or birth experience, maternal physical or mental health concerns, maternal or infant sleep challenges, newborn adoption, one parent is absent, or when one or both parents are returning to work.

My rates vary on the needs of the family with a discount given for packages including more then 10 nights.

Childcare while in Labor

Many families find themselves in need when they are about to have another baby. If your new to the area or don't want to wake friends in the middle of the night I can help. I meet at your home and stay with your older children until a time where you are home, a family member arrives, or I bring a sibling to the hospital to join the family.

This care package is 10 hours at 180.00 and each additional hour is 15. 00 an hour. Tasks include sibling care, prepping for babies arrival home, driving children to school or activities.

Childcare for other doula's

Just as you need childcare when in labor many doulas have a unmet need of childcare when attending birth. I provide a full service childcare option for doulas and other birth workers while they are doing this passionate and powerful work.

Please contact me on a case by case basis with your needs. I would love to support you as you support others.
